Letter to members for season 2021

To all members,

Let’s get ready for season 2021.

Coaching panel:

DOU/Field coach: Nicole Downie

Boundary coach: Nathan Hoy

Boundary assistants: Neil Holland (snr) Caitlin Kavanagh (jnr)

Goal coach: yet to be appointed

Goal assistant: Pat Nolan

You will hear from your respective coaches within the next few weeks as to whether or not you are planning on returning in 2021. Feel free to contact the coaches off your own back if you plan on returning also. If you know of anyone who may be interested in umpiring please bring them along to training nights. More the merrier.

With guidelines changing from November 22nd and allowing up to 50 people gathering outdoors from any number of households, myself and fellow coaches would like to inform you of the decision to commence training for season 2021.

All guidelines adhered to with a copy attached to the email for your reading. Please do not turn up to training if you are unwell or are displaying symptoms. Each training session will be logged for contact tracing if needed.

Optional/social run will commence Wednesday 25th November @ 6 pm leaving from the mini golf car park. This will continue every Wednesday night until December 23rd. A BBQ will be held at Lake Pertobe on December 23rd before we have a short break for Christmas and New Years (more details to follow).

Preseason training will commence Monday and Wednesday’s from January 11th. Training venues are yet to be arranged and members will be informed as soon as the decision is made.

A training plan will be sent out as additional fitness for members to be fit and ready come season 2021. This will be same as the one sent out during COVID. This will help you increase your fitness ready for round 1.

Official training will commence Monday 1st February. (Please see attachment)

BUMP training will commence February 17th, 5 pm at the top hockey field (usual training field). Nathan will inform BUMP participants closer to the date.

Kind regards

Nicole Downie

DOU/Field Coach

Precedence set for season 2021:

  • participate in 80% training (62 training nights. Attend minimum 50) commencing Monday 1st February and finishing September 1st
  • Attend 80% of coaching sessions. These will be held weekly with coaching session one week and discussion session the alternative week. Sessions commence March 24th and finish September 1st (24 coaching sessions. Attend minimum 19)
  • Coaching sessions will be available on the web page (put up in the days following Wednesday training/coaching sessions)
  • Your umpiring ability
  • Attitude/commitment towards the association: this includes dress code to the games
  • If you have work commitments, we will discuss. This does not put you out of the running for senior grand finals.

BUmp Training to Resume

Good Evening,

With the announcement that Junior Footy is set to resume, we are getting Boundary Umpire Training underway as of next Wednesday the 24th of June and then on every Wednesday thereafter.

Training will be from 5:00 until 5:40 and will follow the same protocols as senior training:

  • Using Hand Sanitiser
  • BYO drink bottle
  • Training in groups of 20
  • Temperature scan and attendance recorded at the start of training.
  • Once training is finished, we need everyone to head home straight away, so as to allow for a 20 minute break before the next group arrives.
  • The rooms will be closed for access, aside from use of the toilet.
  • Please bring warm clothes to put on at the end of training.
  • We ask that parents wait outside the training area (hockey field)

RECOMMENCEMENT of training update

Hello members

After discussion tonight with committee members and coaches we have decided that SENIOR training will recommence on Monday 25th May. This will be both Monday and Wednesday night training sessions.

Junior training (BUMP) to commence at a later date.

Please understand that this will be limited groups of 2 x 20 and train at separate ends of the hockey field as per AFL directive. Once you have finished training you are not allowed to hang around you must leave.

Please note that you must adhere to the training times noted above. The rooms are not available to be opened to change in or wait in (before or after training). This is part of the requirements for group training under AFL guidelines.

(The rooms will be open should you need to use the toilets only)

As part of the rooms not being available for use at this time, Ernie will not be available for any pre training or post training rub downs/strapping.

If you choose not to train and are wanting to complete your own training/fitness program until we know whether the season will be commencing, you are more than welcome (there will be no ramifications if you chose to do this).

As per directive from AFL, there needs to be a COVID safety officer nominated who has completed an online small course (This will be me, Nicole Downie). The committee and coaches will complete the module also. (13 people)

Rules surrounding training:

  • The rooms remain closed so there will be no showers available (toilets only)
  • No contact
  • 1.5 mtr distance rules still
  • ROOMS REMAIN CLOSED. ONLY OPEN FOR TOILET USE
  • Strict hygiene protocol (hand sanitiser will be available)
  • Equipment will be wiped down after each session if the equipment has been used
  • Register of training attendees to be filled out
  • If you are not there to train, you are not allowed to be there unless you are a parent. If a parent is there you must adhere to AFL directive of being outside the arena and adhere to social distancing

As we are unsure of if and when the season will commence, this is one small step that needs to be done properly.

Regards
